(1:53)A father’s darkest 3 months
work we're planting a church in Vienna so the third she was born and on the 18th you yes by 18th I was cuz 19th is my wife's birthday and I know that I I left just before her birthday so I was around for her for for two weeks plus or minus about two weeks um and she was very ill and I wasn't going to go but my wife said well she thinks I should go because if I don't go what is she going to say to God you know is as if I can look after her myself so I went we agreed that I should go and um but when I was in Austria nobody told me anything about her they gave me the impression that she was fine right but her condition kept deteriorating and I get back to Lagos after 3 months as in I think 3 months something like that and for this period this girl was sick and nobody told me I would call and they would not tell me that they just rushed her to the hospital they just came back you know from the hospital or something and when I came back and I saw and you know um when I landed right AK started telling me what was happening all the things that had happened up until maybe the day or two days before I got back she di an episode how long were you gone about 3 months I think 3 months that's 6 weeks of 3 months yeah anyway so that day the next the day I I I got back in the evening the next day there was a doctor's appointment right cuz what would happen was that her red blood cells would just she would just be white so we we um I think we went to the hospital they looked at her they said she was fine you know but we should come back you know cuz they had to keep checking it could just turn Have you shared this story like I think so well not maybe not this much detail okay and um and we went home and I told AK we're not going back to the hospital she's fine and that was the last time we went back to the hospital she was fine and I remember that while she was in the first

two weeks while I was around one of my friends I used to Pastor a fellowship on the Medical Campus so I was friends with um not just the medical students but the in um the residents in Nigeria we call them house officers so a lot of the house officers were in the fellowship some of the doctors were in the fellowship and when my daughter fell was born and was sick of course I spoke with them and they were telling me that well there's been a buildup of Billy Rubin in her um plaque or something I don't remember the terms they use well that it is very likely that she will be developmentally challenged as a consequence of it she had uncontrolled uncontrollable jaundice and that was because of something called [ __ ] incompatibility and dar was so tiny right at a certain point we actually thought that D was going to be a little person you know when she was 2 three 3 years old she was probably wearing clothes that she should have been wearing when she was maybe a year she was that tiny you know and when I think about how she looked I remember when they were doing they had to be doing um they did exchange blood transfusions for her and

NEPA would take the power in the middle of the transfusion of the transfusion and the doctors would have to use Nigerian Power Authority at the time at the time 1999 they'd have to do it manually you know use a syringe to pull out blood another syringe to push Merc pushing yeah pushing um um um good blood and when I think about all of that when I think about the times when um they used up all the veins in her arms in her legs and they had to shave part of her head and D was born with Lous beautiful hair and to see this tiny little thing right with parts of her head shave so she had a mohawk right you know we TR of turning into a fashion statement and IV tubes going into her skull into the veins in her head yeah and then to to to watch

her graduate from college a year early watch her graduate from law school and compare that to that image of her as a child and those things that my friends were telling me about how she was going to be developmentally challeng I'm thinking about what did I do as a person to bring her from that place to this place nothing nothing you can't even take credit I'm hearing it you can't even take credit for nothing I was in I was in in in in Europe working doing the worst of it how how how will I not thank God you know I'm saying how how will I how do I think about those kinds of things and there are many of them in my life right and I'm talking to God from a mechanical ritualistic place right I had policemen

challenge you are meeting God aresh you are meeting god with no faith aresh right and that's what the Israelites did right they had the uh the 10 plagues yeah by the time they got to the Red Sea they were they had totally forgotten the 10 plagues right and they were dealing with God as if they'd never known him right they crossed the righted sea right yay by the time they get to Mara 3 days later they had forgotten the Red Sea they had forgotten the 10 plagues and they're dealing with God like who this guy right each time they have a problem right they forget the Deliverance of the past and what happens then is this you have a a a a monument that God has built for you to build up your faith right but you on the other side of it ignore that Monument God has a a portfolio where you know when an artist

wants to get a job they bring your portfolio God has a portfolio in all of our Lives yeah right what I do when I worship right is I over that portfolio and that's what the Lord actually asks us to do to remember yes I don't know if it was you that was saying that like I was watching something and there was just the the comment around like remember what the Lord has done that's just always like look back on what he's done and remember these things what happens let me tell you what happens when I do it in the place of worship I find that my faith in God increases exponentially right because it's almost like I I have imagine if today is Wednesday you've got a challenge coming you've got a challenge on Wednesday but Tuesday God did something Monday God did something uh Sunday God did something Saturday God did something Friday God did something that challenge on Wednesday that you're standing in front of you're approaching it with a level of faith that you've never that you don't have right and it's simply because you're bringing the past into the present right remember when Jesus Christ said when you take eat the bread do this in remembrance of me to remember something to take something that happened in the past and bring it into your present right and when we do that yeah our faith increases our love for God increases yeah so I don't sing like
(12:42)Why I hate 'performing' in worship
that I I I've got a crap voice yeah not a crap voice but my voice I don't do melodies or harmonies I can't keep a note on other when I sing it hurts my own ears we could probably do like B I can see you doing no I can't do a note I can't hold a note I can't tell anyway okay so singing is a I just I don't know feel so when I sing two things happen when I try to sing number one I get very self-conscious right number two I'm using words from somebody's song right and those words I have to I don't know how to explain it they have meaning to the person who wrote them but for me they are really nice words yeah but when I sit down and and I go through my mind and I bring out God's portfolio right I imagine that what I am doing is what the writer of the song is doing is doing yeah right and I connect with God in a way that I don't normally through music right because I'm not a musician right I'm a philosopher I'm I'm I'm cerebral I think you know um the the whole point of the story is that I know that when we get to heaven nobody's asking God any questions nobody's going to get to heaven and say hey God that time that um I I I I cross the road and and you just going to just even just contemplating his acts we're supposed to have a our prayer meeting is supposed to be there we supposed to last 30 minutes right when I leave the prayer meeting and I enter that place and I enter that place and that I I am I have to drag myself M out of it right honestly if it was me and there was no one else there good did it's funny you mentioned this because um
(14:40)Getting scolded for sitting down in church
I I was thinking back about bringing the past to the present cuz what you were saying was very emotional and I remember a time I was chos ch um they were doing you know they were doing their thing praise and worship and I was I had my head down I was on my seats I was sitting down everyone was standing up I had my head down um then there's this lady next to me you know sometimes they can be hear me me CU she hit me and I and and I turned I looked at her and she didn't know you she didn't know me just what yeah you can imagine she's like was really you sleeping yeah this going on can this guy be so ungrateful you can't even put go people say it if God has done this great you can't you should stand up don't be and she hit me and I turned to where and she saw me I was crying and I can't forget this man the man next to her told that I don't know if he husband said see he was worshiping God but he wasn't in the way that you that you thought it was so you were like you know and lady you know I'm not I'm not used to like older people like saying I'm sorry after after she hit I said sorry I didn't I didn't know I was like know it's fine cuz but you remind me when you get when you're in that space where you don't even know where you are again you don't you don't you don't it's you don't it does it's something else I think we we we we we get very mechanical in our in in trying to connect with God we have all these rituals and all these formulas right that we have seen other people do right and we just follow it yeah yeah and for me you know I start with oh you know is the is the alpha and you know you you go through all of those things and then you're stuck you're stuck because okay you're not taking time to really you're not speaking from your heart yeah you don't know what you're really saying you're speaking from things you've heard right but when I tell you that God is faithful right there's I have stories when I tell you that he's my righteousness my first revelation of God is Jehovah sikin right the Lord my righteousness I have stories I have stories where God has shown me that he's my righteousness right when I tell you that he is my healer when I tell you that he's my peace when I tell you that he's my banner he's my strength when I tell you that man some can boast in horses and chariots but the only thing that I have I can boast in is in the name of the Lord I have stories to tell you and guess what I tell myself those stories right it's not enough for me to because the human mind is very um present in the present we don't live in the past right we live in the present even if you want to live in the past the present is calling your name is dragging your attention come and deal with me today right so we have to make a conscious decision right to sit down yeah and I don't want to use the word meditate but that's what it is right I would say that's what it is no the reason why is because people get confused with meditation people there's a lot of there's a lot of this Eastern meditation but but let me put it in terms that should not confuse anybody right think uh Ponder yeah on the things that God has done for you and just in case you know you can't find things just look at nature my God think about the the Sahara desert right dry arid during the day is hot you can fry an egg mhm and at night it will freeze that same egg yeah and then move all the way to the Arctic and Antarctica right and you've got a different kind of desert here the desert is dry and arid here it is wet right and bitingly cold right think about geothermal Springs so hot that if you put anything in it from outside of it it will literally boil it in seconds fraction of a second but there are creatures that live there think about the oceans right Pacific Atlantic right and the bottom of it men have not been to yeah think about the sky right think about the animals think about the waterfalls Niagara Victoria Falls who can tell you right and you believe that all of this beauty accident was random and and to add to that too by the way PF cuz again you're touching me emotionally um if that is too deep for you e just where you are sitting now listen to this try and be aware of your your what's going on in your chest right now no seriously y just the fact that your heart is beating I sit down today I sit down I sit down and I think about about it and I'm like H the beating of my chest there's a rhythm to it we talking I was feeling it yes there's a rhythm to it and it's a rhythm that God recognizes if if they took your chest your heart out of your chest and it was beating would you recognize that sound God would that's T's heart that's fe's heart that's Esther's heart every strand of here on our head he he it's numbered he knows it right we don't have hair on the bottom of our feet or we have on the top of our head we even have on the top of our feet yeah we don't have hair in our eyeballs but we have hair to catch dust from in our eyeballs we have hair in our nostrils to filter stuff out y right in our ears when you look at the ecosystem in nature right man they say is the apex predator but the little mouse you take the mouse out let mice or rats or whatever go extinct and the whole ecosystem could collapse mhm everything has its part everything plays A Part there's a level of Harmony in the universe and order in the universe that is not random it's not sporadic Right male animals have a lot of fancy plumage right the female animals don't the male animals have to have the plumage because they need to attract the female animals right you see it across species it's all random Evolution Evolution I can I can I can I can sit down and and understand the concept of evolution that people have evolved to and told that life has evolved right right but the first expression of life was not chaotic yeah was not chaotic our Evolution they say has adapted to our environment right so as the Earth has gotten let's say cooler we have evolved wearing clothes right true but when the Earth was hot we had skin mhm and the skin was what was needed for that time MH right so even with Evolution right the theory of evolution you can see behind it a Creator yeah right right a a a a a master Creator yeah so when we say uh he is Elohim Jehovah Elohim Elohim means the creator of the heavens and the Earth right when when when um this the the psalm says that um I will lift up my eyes onto the hills from where cometh my help my Help Cometh From The Lord which made the Heaven and the Earth you know I think about that right I think about that said the heavens declar the glory of God and the firmament shows forth his handiwork and there's no corner of this Earth where he speech his voice is not heard and you look at the heavens guys the clouds protecting us from the Sun but we need the sun because the sun produces the light that the plants need and we eat the plants but the sun also gives us vitamin D that we need everything has its place the animals eat the plants that need it's like and the plants absorb the carbon dioxide come on so it it's interesting we went to the be we went to the beach around Christmas time as soon as I stepped on the grass I heard the I heard the um the scripture that talks about like the Lord knowing every every piece of sand I don't know if there's a scripture that says that I think there is yeah and so as soon as I stepped on the sand I immediately thought that man if he knows every inch of like there's nothing how much and then you look out you look out at the ocean you're like man this and he said to Abraham that your descendants would be like the sons of the sea thank you that's what I was thinking about stars of the sky numerous like that you know I I I find that we don't spend enough time contemplating God right personally not even um communally or or or or or you know um congregationally or corporately individually just contemplating God contemplating God in nature contemplating God in our lives right I'm one of those people who cannot ascribe the things that have happened to me to random acts of whatever of of luck they're too organized they're too strategic I look at nature and I see Harmony and I know that I'm not the only person who sees this harmony philosophers from time immemorial have said that the Harmony in the universe speaks to a creator yeah when you you dig into that Harmony right you don't even have to go into nature just stand in front of the mirror like they said and just look at your features yeah everything is exactly where it needs to be for the function that it performs imagine if your eyes were on your butt can it make sense I mean imagine trying to see I'm just this is this is just strictly this is for yeah imine yeah yeah that's I mean your head is there no eyes what a grotesque monster right but the point in all of this is that so but I wasn't going to pull my okay just okay I was for a second this I pull on his the production team was ready to cut cut anything is possible with tday we Ser an awesome guy no we do and and I think we don't think about it enough we think more about what about the problems and the challenges and and those are things that require thought but I think that if we if we contemplate meditate and think about all the things he has done it's going to be easier so that every challenge is not we're not being reintroduced to God right you know and I think that we we underestimate how disappointed God was that the Israelites when they stood on the precipice of the promised land made a choice to not believe him they made a choice and every day we make that choice yeah right when we when we have a problem we refuse to look at the portfolio and we say show me again that you're a great artist prove to me again that you do Great and Mighty things he really shouldn't have yeah he's done it so many times we should by the by for many of us for me and I say this knowing that recently I was on the precipice of that right not really on the Pres but I was like I had the armies of pharaoh behind me and in that moment I didn't remember the 10 plagues that had assailed Pharaoh I actually didn't remember I was so overwhelmed by the noise of Pharaoh's Army and the noise from the crashing waves of the Red Sea and I thank God that I had people around me who very quickly very very quickly said to me the God who delivered you through the first plague the second plague the third plague the seventh plague the ninth plague the 10th plague he will deliver you from this Army and because of the time that I had spent in worship because of you know the time that I had spent contemplating God's word it took me a moment to flip right before those seasons of contemplation it would have taken me days maybe weeks to flip right to be like you know what it's true I have a guy right you're right that guy he's done this for me he's done that for me he's done all this for me but if I did not have that portfolio in my recent memory In the Heat of the enemy's attack remembering that portfolio can be tough yeah it can be really tough you know I was fortunate in that moment that I had people around me to remind me of his portfolio and I think that's what boring right yeah but they've tried to remind me before in other situations yeah and I just was not ready to listen because I couldn't see it because the portfolio was so far in my distant past but I was just reviewing the portfolio yesterday yeah it's easy for say that that portfolio I'm not going to see which portfolio I was just looking at it a few hours ago yeah I can bring it yeah I don't know if you guys clocked the audience clocked everyone listen clocked but like this episodes feels like feels like gratitude yeah you know being able to know the god that we serve yeah you know regardless of what the storm is cuz when you were talking I just cuz we were supposed to go a particular rout yeah but I feel like and obviously there's Vibes there bant and all to talk about but this this is it like cuz you were saying earlier this was before PFS I were talking like just imagine what like to be in heaven right yeah and you kind of spoke a little bit about that but it's this is what it's about this is what it's about heaven is not a place glorifying God heaven we we we think that you know in heaven we we we're going to be going about life as usual but in a much nicer place like no we are Spirit what goes to heaven is our spirit and our spirit goes back to God right it stands in the presence of God right what our spirit is going to do yeah is worship I have a question yeah what about when the Bible in Revelations I when it talks about the New Jerusalem we'll come back there's a coming back there's a time there and there's a time to come back right when we come back is when we'll now be talking about the new there will be a new Heaven and a new Earth yeah but the time when we are with God right can you imagine the Bible says he clothed himself with light like garment he surrounds himself with light that is so bright no man can approach it he says no man will see me can see me and live right but then they say that when we that a time will come when we can see as we are seeing what will you do in front of that light what everybody whoever gets in front of the light does obser cast their crowns at his feet and declare holy holy holy holy is the Lord God all Mighty the whole earth is full of his glory they're looking down from heaven at the Earth and they can see the glory of God and when we stand there and see the glory of God yeah sit down and contemplate God in your life just sit down for 30 minutes contemplating God in your life I promise you it will end with holy holy holy holy is the Lord God Almighty and thanksgiv it's inevitable yeah it's inevitable like I for me I and Chef please guys check me if I'm wrong here but where I'm interpreting this is for anyone out there that is maybe struggling with a loss or death MH cuz conversations like this they they give me a sense of or at least they remind me of Crisis words of if you believe in me you will never die but I know death is something that is hard yeah for who for us for who who is it hard for as human being like those who care about losing them death is hard for the person who is alive right yes for the person who has died right whose spirit is yes with God death is that's why Paul said for me to live is good but to die is again yes right we look at death right from our perspective we see it as an end mhm right and they creates all kind of anxiety and fear and worry yes but when you start to understand what death is right your perspective of death will change right see we have an emotion an emotional reaction to death and the reason why we have that emotional reaction is because of what we think about death if you change what you think about death your emotional reaction to it will change I have another thought yes so when I think about um there's a scripture that talks about like the way that we we shouldn't is oh we should MN the way that unbelievers mourn unbelievers mourn right so in to me that indicates that there's a way that we look at Believers when they die that's different from the way that we look at unbelievers yeah and to be fair when I think about unbelievers that have passed I become sad because the thought is where are they going where are they going and if they even at the last point of their life gave their life to the Lord so the UN the the thought that I don't know what happened to them makes me sad for them okay so let me ask you a question if a believer that you know passes how do you feel close to you oh I feel sad that they're no longer on Earth but I feel assured that they're with the Lord and that I will see them again so why are you sad that they're no longer on Earth because I don't get to interact with them on a daily basis okay so you you're sad cuz you miss them in the same way you would miss somebody you loved moving to a different country correct okay then why are you crying and rolling around on the floor there's another reason why I'm sad also yeah is that when I think about so I I have I have had a family member that passed that person knew the Lord but they have children right so I always think about the things that me and that person had discussed around raising their kids and that they won't the kids won't get to experience their mom in the way that they would have liked to in the way that she she would have desired to experience that absolutely but but I'm I'm I'm trying to get to a point here and and again I've not arrived at this I'm arriving at it cuz I have suffered loss yeah multiple times and it's been painful mhm but on an intellectual level I've always understood that scripture says do not mourn as unbelievers mourn yeah right and I understood why which is because the person has gone to heaven right but I realized that what I think about death had to really change yeah we see death as a as a catastrophic event right we don't see death as a transition onto Glory yeah if we saw death yeah as a catastrophic event then our attention we find a way to justify our pain well we feel pain yeah right but if it's a transition to Glory which is what we say we should not feel any pain at all do you know why let me tell you why if I am if we both lived in a very poor country terrible poverty and somehow one of us gets a Visa and goes to a land flowing with milk and honey right nobody's crying everybody's rejoicing my children all we're thinking about is preparing them so that they too can get their visas that I was going to go to right it is all about the better life there making sure that they we have their documentation in order that they are when it is time for me to send for them that they are ready to go right that is how I think if we understood right and again we say we understand but we're not acting as if we understand yes we don't understand and if we're not acting it because we don't understand a man think that's how he is we don't understand so if you think about death really the way the Bible talks about it right you realize that death really and even even the way people die yeah the only person the only people that have a negative reaction to it that's we're talking about the Christian a Believer right is the people that are left behind the person who has transitioned to Glory I can't imagine anybody getting into the presence of God and say yeah yeah please God let me go back my child my say in heaven there's no marriage there's no marriage H yeah be careful for you let them come there's no marriage Bible now you come for me come for scripture there's no marriage if there's no marriage then there's no family like that ah be be careful no no no but here but there's no if there's no marriage the marriage is the foundation of family there's no family let let me family is what the people that know Christ so that's what the Bible says let me not say one of the things the Bible says is that um that Christ may be the first born among many Brethren right when we get to heaven H yeah that name H you us five us four it it doesn't exist right it still exists in the consciousness of those who are here as far as God is concerned that person that is in heaven eh do you think God is thinking oh I did you bad no you you are in the presence of God which we get I don't want to call it a taste because a taste is a bit more robust we get a a a an idea of an idea of an idea of what it is like open right to the point where when we touch it small we don't want to leave imagine if we touch the real thing mhm one brother one husband one wife one child will not tell you to come back and you be like and my child my child no you actually be praying for them to come and join you in not like going to join nobody no nobody that's why when people go many times they don't want to come back the people who come back they didn't go to heaven and I say to folks that If Heaven is the way that it is then how you get to heaven why does it matter whether you come to America in a ship whether you come in an aeroplane you swim here whether you swim here whether you enter bus whether you walked over the Grande when you get your citizenship does anybody ask you how you entered America it's the people yes that are left behind that it that it will impact them yeah so I think personally that once it is decided by whoever does makes those decision that your time has come the method of your death is calibrated for impact on the people that are left behind they will choose the one that is most likely to bring them to ensure that they also right so you know if you cross the Grande you swim across and that Texas bab doesn't cut you doesn't catch you you make it through and now Trump is President can all of those things yeah the chances that you will bring your children here very slim very very slim yeah so they won't let you cross through the real grand they will arrange it so you can fly here you say but if that suffering is what your children need to see s to step to sit up oh you you will suffer it because ultimately it's for a moment just say yeah and the funny part about that and it's like I nothing but love for you I'm not this is not judgment I'm listening that's what people say before they judge you genuinely you know I've know those people crazy like that when P was talking about asking those questions those Socratic question what philos you you this phosh but no seriously though does it do our reaction to death MH is that a way to show us what as Believers what we claim to believe but what we actually believe what we claim to believe I to in in to the point that PF make that we we don't spend a KNE we don't spend enough time meditating on the Lord I don't spend enough time meditating on death okay and the concept of death so I wouldn't say that I have a like a vast thought process on what that means now that he's brought it up I'll spend time really considering what do I I love I love that answer what do I think I love that answer and it's important that you that all of us because we contemplate every aspect of the human existence but death is such a fearful one that people don't contemplate until they get older right and and I'm older so I think about it a little bit more than I used to when I was yours age right I think about that a lot to no the way that I think about death is for my kids like when this is this is the this is how I put it into practice when it comes to the way that I think about death it is spending time with them so if I feel like I'm tired and they're kind of irritating me or they're jumping on me I'm like you know what people actually pray for this moment and I won't have this moment forever and then in the moment I practice changing my perspective and leaning in to whatever it is that we're doing in the moment so even in even in that beautiful thing you do right you you you negativization on death right and it help Ines you to make the most of the moment and that's that you are making the most of the moment is good AKA count my count my days yes it's good right and I I really like that because it it lines up with the idea of your time here is short maximize it yeah right make the best of it use it but understand that this is not your final destination understand that you are here for a season right and you cannot cling to it and even if you cling to it it does it never works when your time comes your time comes right but for me the more I think about God right the more I contemplate God the more I you know the way I I'm thinking about what is going on in heaven MH right and I'm thinking that ah if all these powerful beings are just worshiping what a glorious glorious Place Heaven Must Be right nobody is worrying about catching the train or the plane or the bus getting their car to start in the middle of Texas winter nobody think about those things it's just worship and again if I worship for 30 minutes and I don't want to get up and I have not even seen what Moses saw and Moses didn't see Squat and he still misbehaved nature he misbehaved it's a complex conversation we'll have that another day but if we have not seen you know God Moses said to God Show Me Your Glory and God PID him in a rock and caused his goodness and mercy to pass in front of him right we see God's goodness and mercy but we don't know we're seeing God I need to preach a sermon on that you should people don't know that his goodness and mercy you are genuinely a better place our loved ones particularly those who don't even know the Lord we've told them how much we love them yeah right how much we miss them right that we have codified the pain of loss into their existence right I think that if we have faith and the faith is communicable and that's faith is always communicable we should communicate it to them and that will take care of their own perspective if we if we communicate our if your kids for example see you experiencing the presence of God yeah and you carry that glow That Glory around your interactions with them to the extent that is possible if you deal with them live with them like Christ is dealing with them and living with them they will catch your faith yeah in fact the Bible actually says that if a Christian was married to an unbeliever yeah it's possible for them to be converted by what they see of you we think that what converts people right is when they see us always always being good so the problem is this yeah they will see you being bad and then if that is the only B if the only basis of their conversion is my goodness it's a problem because somebody will annoy you you will speak out of turnue yeah somebody will do something ask you to do something you do not want to do yeah somebody will misbehave and you will react right but there's something about the presence of God that we cover with Bushell and buckets of religion and ritual right that people cannot see beyond we we we hide god with religion yeah we hide god with that you know self-righteous um demeanor that we don't know we're carrying but we're carrying preach preach you know we we we talk down to people right Jesus Christ I keeps saying this he never he never lashed out at a sinner not one sinner in the Bible did Jesus corruption on the inside because they were so focused on the external yeah yeah we have become Masters you're right of whitening our sepers we are we've lost the church right has gotten so afraid of The Sinner yeah that we have become the Pharisees because that's what it is yeah we're so afraid we have become the Pharisees right and that's how the Pharisees started they didn't want to go into captivity MH they became mean in their legalism they became mean insensitive insensitive cruel yeah and guess what they thought they were Hypocrites yeah and they thought they were it's inevitable it's it's inevitable and it's because they they they weren't remembering you know back to your point they weren't remembering all the things that the Lord had done for no no they they they they they substituted ritual for relationship right right so they spoke to God from a ritualistic place and did not have the time to wait and hear from God yeah people keep talking about God Dro something in their spirit I don't understand how God is always dropping something in your spirit but doesn't tell you that you have stepped away you have fallen from Grace people think to Fall From Grace is to fall into sin no no no to Fall From Grace is to move away from Grace back into religion that's what it means to fall from grace and many of us have fallen from Grace we're now firmly established in in in in religion our strength comes from our religious observance and the more religious we are the more confident we are yeah right but our confidence is in the false god I think with all the podcast that we've had i' I've definitely been meditating more on just like Grace like I think to your point there's certain things that I think I I I talk to the Lord quite frequently but there's certain things that are not meditating on and talk that I think that when you're surrounded by other believers you tend to have those conversations that will then make you think and I think to your point that's why it's really important to surround yourself with people yeah but don't surround yourself with other religious people cuz you guys will reinforce each other you know something can I tell what I think if you're sincere with God if you were sincere with God from the beginning if you sincerely had an encounter with God and you stray he will bring you back yeah I think so to it will be painful let me tell you what I think God does he challenges what you believe he tests it if every religious Doctrine let me give a classic example people don't think when they tell you in church that if you don't tithe it will be tight when it is tight you should question when it is tight and you've been paying your tithe you should question what they said okay you should challenge it we have a point when you tithe and it is tight should question question it right based on what they have told you based on what they have told you if what they have told is true and somebody's lying either God is lying or the person who told you did not quite tell you the truth or did not tell you accurately MH I choose to believe that people don't intentionally lie about God's word so I'm going to take the charitable position that it is a misinterpretation of God's word yeah most likely the tithe so let me quickly do a brief thing on the tithe m the tithe first time the tithe is mentioned in the Bible was in the encounter between Abraham and melkisedek Abraham had just gone to war made a bunch of you know let's call it made a bunch of money let's say and then he meets this guy melkisedek and in melkisedek he sees something that reminds him of God so he takes a tenth of his money and he gives it to meis EDC um m his name you know the king of Salem king of peace right he gives it to me that's the first time the tithe is mentioned Meed did not ask for it or demand it Abraham gave it to him as an act of worship and reverence and Thanksgiving now go fast forward Moses goes up the mountain comes back with Ten Commandments and then the Lord expands on it and it becomes 613 laws in those 63 laws there is one law right that happens three times the ties right there's a tithe that you bring to the temple correct a ten okay there's a tithe that you um save right and you all of us will get our TI and have one big party and work it there's a third one I don't remember it as I as I speak here but if our producers can check the thirdd use of the tie appr right now what has happened over time right is that in Malachi one of the tithes is is raised to prominence is spoken about and that is the tithe that is brought to the temple a question they were already doing that before yes but they stopped for different reasons people were not being faithful with it okay in the same way they were not being faithful with the other 63 laws right right so in Malachi God kind of focused on that tithe issue but the tithe in Malachi that God was talking about where he said if you bring your tithe I will open the store House of heaven and pour out a blessing out of it and if you don't I will um will you rob it will it will you rob me and all the curses what people forget is this the tithe does not stand as a law on its own own it's a part of 613 laws right of Moses one of the manifestations of it was the one you give to the temple and the priests will eat from another manifestation of it was the one that we all use and do block party first of all the fact that that was even a law to use the tenth of your earnest to party is I respect it wait wait wait I'm going somewhere so now right in Deuteronomy 28 if you do all laws you are blessed as you go in blessed as you come out you the head and not the tail you're above and not beneath also that Deuteronomy 28 if you don't do the law all the law this curses will follow you it's a lot of curses right so what God was doing in Malachi was highlighting to these folks right one of the curses right that came from Disobedience right that you could actually tie to the tithe right now fast forward New Covenant for the poor you give a tense to the poor right okay that's what I thought it was my shout out to reducers let's our pastor so so so so so so what the T has now evolved into so in the New Covenant for example in the New Testament right the tith is mentioned once when Jesus Christ was scolding the Pharisees says you tithe mint leaves and cumin but you neglect the weightier matters of the law peace Justice Mercy right that's the only time the tide is mentioned in the New Testament can you elaborate on that no I'm there too many elaborations I'm going to go downit wait first let let me let me let me finish for a second right what the ti has not evolved to we've condensed all the three ties the party tie the poor tie and the church tithes we've condensed it into the church tithe right and we have turned it into a means right to get blessed from God that and that's fine I I have no problems with that do you but you cannot do it out of context it is in the context of the 613 laws of Moses and the Bible says if you stumble in one you stumble in all yeah so that guy who is associating his the tithe with his Blessing is it telling me is it saying that he has not stumbled in any but I'm say if he has stumbled in one I'm sure he has stumbled in a lot then the ti is not the source of His blessings because technically he is not he's not qualified for a blessing he's qualified for a curse right yeah now let's take it Global I always say there 63 laws I've never sat down and counted I've read that in different you know um um Bible study books and all that so I may be off plus or minus have you heard I've have not been to a church or heard of a church where the Christians in today's generation who believe in the law right of the laws of God are encouraged to obey all the laws of God they've been told that some of those laws are ceremonial yeah right and they are obsolete for example the laws about bringing animals to the temple because there's no more temp is there aw about wearing earrings or getting tattoos I don't Ian I don't know you can inter there's some things you can maybe is this right if you fail one doesn't matter how faithful you are with your tithe all of them you failed all so yeah no that that can't be correct and God H is is faithful he's not a liar if he says that if you tithe and the tithe is the basis of his Blessing he will bless you you can't turn around and tell me God is trying to teach me something no that would make him a liar he's not a liar if he says this is what I'm doing this is what he's going to do the church has elevated um the tithing component of the law we have excised a bunch of laws for expediency sake right that we don't even talk about anymore like the mix of mixing fabric law if somebody were to go to one of these men of God and say is it a sin for me to mix fabric they'll say and that's the Old Testament but where in the Bible does it say excise some laws and keep some others it always says all the scriptures that are quoted to justify the laws obedience to the laws being the basis of our blessings always say if You observe all right so who who where who decides which law is not relevant we the Holy Spirit did not there's no scripture that says certain laws are not relevant anymore none but because of the had because this one this particular law with the Malachi is highlighted that's what they used to now point out the basis of the whole the problem with that particular so so that that happens because a we talking to folks a who themselves have not read the Bible MH they talking to folks who have not been educated on all of the Bible Malachi makes sense it's Merit I I I invest 10% I make profit right it it it computes it maths in our head so we have an affinity for those kinds of things right it's part of our daily reality you give them 40 hours of work they give you a paycheck it makes it it computes but this is the thing right this is how I look at the tithe the person who most closely models my work with God is Abraham not David not Moses not Isaac not Solomon it's Abraham because Abraham had a relationship with God on the basis that I have a relationship with God based on faith he didn't do anything out of because he had to he did everything out of Faith the Bible says Abraham believed God and he was counted as righteousness right we believe God in the same way Abraham believed God and it is counted as righteousness so if I want to worship God right I will look at Abraham before I look at Moses right and in giving meelis EDC a tithe I see something worthy of emulation in worship why because the Bible says that Jesus Christ right to whom my faith is attached is a priest according to the order of meis EDC right so if you're looking for patterns in Scripture that is a better pattern to look at right where out of worship Abraham gave a tithe to the king of Salem out of worship I give a tithe right to a priest according to the order of meis EDC that's why I always tell Christians the people are you are not a levite you're not according to the order of Levi or Aeron you are not of the aonic priesthood right our line bypasses Aaron bypasses Levi and can be traced to meaz EDC because Jesus Christ our high priest by the way there's only one high priest your pastor is not a high priest your senior pastor is not the high priest your general overse is not the high priest your Chief superintendent is not the high priest there's only one high priest and his name is Jesus and there's biblical backing by the way Matthew 23 the high priest yeah is Christ our high priest is a his priesthood his Earthly priesthood is derived not from his birth lines through Aaron and Levi but through melis EDC so if we're going to worship him right if we're going to reverence him we do it in the way that he was reverenced in the past and that was the format that we have from Abraham so the tithe right is not the basis of my blessings the basis of my blessings is that I have been declared righteous Christ under the old Covenant if you tithe plus the remaining 612 laws you are counted righteous and you are blessed but under the New Covenant if you believe you counted righteous and you are blessed right so I tithe but I don't tithe with the expectation want to be blessed no no no no no you Ty with expectation with the expectation that when I worship God yeah and I enter into his presence I am blessed I tithe with the expectation that I am righteous anything that I do out of righteousness will be blessed yeah can you clarify for the en though I feel like what might be heard even though this is part of it but not all of it Isaac okay Isaac is a Isaac is a descendant of Abraham Isaac lived walked with God on the Covenant that God had with Abraham his father right Abraham was his father yeah Isaac was the child of Promise the one they had waited for for a couple of decades the Bible says Isaac prospered right Isaac was super wealthy but it also says Isaac sold yeah when there was a famine Isaac swed right sewing is a type of giving away of something right when you give away the Bible says that except a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies it abides alone right says cast your bread onto the waters when you cast your bread on the water the water is carrying it away right when you give yeah you have an expectation right that your giving Will bear fruit yeah there will be a reward to it the Bible says that remember the Lord your God for it is he that giveth Thee the power to get wealth that he may establish his Covenant with your fathers we are blessed we are well we're blessed because of the Covenant but in spite of the Covenant if we don't sow if you sow zero you reap zero if you give zero you get zero just I'm trying to say yeah I get it but I don't give right from the perspective of the law right I swow in worship you say so I do it as an act of worship but simultaneously right I'm sowing a seed right that bears fruit 100 fold right so would you say that this guy that is asking a question is misunderstood in his mind he thinks Christ do you believe that your righteousness derives from Christ not from your tithe right because you can believe that your righteousness derives from Christ and still tithe and expect a blessing from your tithe right you can believe that your righteousness derives from Christ and still be concerned that if I don't so will I have a heart harest just yeah I say I get that I mean and shout out to you for foring positive intent but I think this story love love love believes the best yeah good so we have to believe that you get yeah I mean I believe more often than not we hear this more often than not we hear this from folks right who are not operating from Christ they're operating from the laws of Moses from perceiving from who are approaching the tithe as one of the laws of Moses and the reason why apart from the fact that that is an old Covenant that priesthood is obsolete blah blah blah apart from that it's problematic because you're not even doing it right there are three tithes yeah one you eat one you give to the poor and one you give to the priest right 90% of the people I know who ties from the law Who quote Malachi as just ification to tie yeah do not give to the poor will not do a block party with fellow Believers with their tithe it's an Abomination to them they're the same folks who would rather tithe and give their parents money right who would rather tithe and case m I got what I say to I would say to him I would ask him I say so why do you tithe and if he says well because God commands it I'll say well true but there are 612 things that God commands I right and then he doesn't pay his TI he doesn't SE his Blessing in his mind if you associate your tithe to your blessing on the day that you tithe and you are not blessed what's going on do you go and sit down and reflect and say what have I done right or do you because you see this is the thing right I get you if you read the Bible and God said if you tith I will bless you yeah if you don't if you tight and God doesn't bless you you have a right you have the right to say God you said mhm said this is my ti book and this is the receipt from the church I tithe this is my tax Guy Where's my lesson and people do that yeah and i' like somebody to tell me how many times God said it's true let me go and check the book I can see the receipt we have to understand that the love of God right is Paramount in his interactions with us yeah and he's not Wicked he's not Wicked if you if that guy if that guy we to tithe and God does not reciprocate immediately he will have a crisis of Faith yeah he would think he did something wrong yeah 100% this and if he lived under the laws of Moses if he lived his life under the laws of Moses and he studied the word he will realize very quickly that chances that he's broken one of the 613 laws and unfortunately that God is not even in that book God is not even dealing with us like that well you know think so it's not even as if oh God is going to deal with you based on how you want so if you want to do the laws of Moses God will deal with you according to the laws of Moses if you want to do the laws of Christ go no if you do the laws of Moses you literally as good as an unbeliever right I think the cuz the way he asked the question of okay look he actually I've calculated that if I don't TI for six months I mean I know your I know love our abundance of stuff they missed it I know but but but you know what's funny the reason why I don't judge this guy is that most of us if we deep it our fruits and our action shows that we do think we do think that God's some part of us thinks that God's love is defined by the abundance of stuff so God doesn't love poor people no guys you see you see problem see if if cuz when you stand with somebody cuz there are people who are making $36,000 $25,000 and and and God loves them and they content so but if we say that the manifestation of God's love is Boku box right that guy God does not love him but what they're gonna say and that's what they used to say back in the day that if you're sick that means that your family has sied and this is they will come up with but that and that and I know would the vast majority of folks who say because the tithe is not the law anymore right they have not continued giving God In Worship they stopped totally but that kind of lets us know what their motivation was of exactly so so and this is the problem with religion religion gets you to the point where you do just enough but if you get to a place right where you understand what Jesus Christ did for you you are sitting down constantly looking at his portfolio of what he's done for you right how do you in good conscience say I have but I'm not going to give it to God I'm going to go and give it to everything else worship is that there is nothing that you cannot give you can't excise you know what Paul said Paul said after if you think about everything God has done for you the only take from this from for this particular guy is one I would say um take time to meditate on what you believe no I would say that meditate on the right thing don't M what you believe go and make sure that what you believe yes is founded on the truth truth that's what I want to that's that's what I mean yeah I mean sorry I mean because you sit down be thinking oh meditate on the truth because I think when you meditate on What the Lord Has Done For You truth is scary yeah the truth is scary but when you meditate on what the Lord has done for you um that even if you give that's not that's not that's not an indication well even if you g even if you don't give he will still love you and bless you like he's already done everything that he needs to do for you for you to have life and life more abundantly so I'll say in terms of your business because he's a good father if you ask him for bread he's not going to give you a stone right right I said If he if he ask if he if you ask him for a
