um uh this episode is specifically about our irresponsible use or responsible if you determine uh of social media as Christians like do you think there's do you think it's more of a negative impact on us as Christians being exposed to a lot of counter you would say um religious content or just in general can social media be something that be can be like a tool for us to kind of push our Christianity or is one of those things that could be more of a hindrance um it's kind of we wanted to start okay my my perspective is is that um do you have Instagram oh yeah do you have uh Snapchat not really I have the account I don't use it and I have a Tik Tok I I don't you did the wait you have Tik Tok we we did some to during the pandemic but I haven't really I'm wow I feel old cuz I a even got Tik Tok yeah5 a man I've been 55 for a minute I'm almost 56 wow I would never 56 in 6 months oh wow yeah man yeah man you think I was 566 knew that you were almost 56 but you you see I'm not 56 how could you have known I 56 I don't put that knife put that knife back why I didn't see anything cuz I was like see last time I got in trouble so I just kept quiet this is why forgiving is hard absolutely and if you guys want to know what the knife conation is just go back to the perious episode episode one of the episodes one of the episodes okay so you asked me a question about social media yes sir social media is like that proverbial dagger right it's got two edges it has the good and the bad right um it can be a tool and it can also be a problem right it's literally just a platform what you do with it is the problem right um if you choose to use it for good right and you choose to use it to access a defined content and it's great it's made the world so much smaller but you can also use it for bad you can use it to push a lot of nonsense right and you can find a lot of nonsense on it so again what is in Your Heart Right is going to determine what social media produces for you the thing that I have the problem I have with social media is that it gives
(6:31)The Danger Of Low-Bar Credibility
a lot of credibility right to people who do not deserve that credibility anybody can go on social media in the old days to get on television was very expensive right if you were on television you were on you had you had means you had resources radio was a little easier but the the bar was pretty high to get on radio or to get on television or even to write a book right so if you're giving out information of any sort the bar to get your information across to people to an audience was quite high social media has brought the bar down to the ground anybody with a phone can post on social media and if they are articulate enough and sound confident enough they people will believe them right and not just a small sliver of people but a very wide audience particularly with the algorithms right and you know the ones where they claim the foreign governments are pushing trash right that's the danger that I feel with social media right the access to information and the validation of information that is not necessarily true but has an appearance of truth right even in the in in the I'm during the American elections right you you see foreign actors going on social media and posting stories that were not true using images that were not real to try and sway what people were thinking right in One Direction or the other and then the owner of one of the platforms who was you know who supports a particular political party right through morality and decency to the wind and promotes the lies right and those lies because of the nature of social media are in the ears and before the eyes of so many people that under normal in the past would have been almost impossible to reach that number of people in the past you had to get on TV you had to get in the newspapers or you had to get on radio right and radio is even interesting because radio you have to tune it to that station TV tune it to that Station Newspaper buy that particular newspaper social media you're on Twitter the algorithms are going to load your feed with stuff that you don't control right the same thing with Instagram I don't know about Facebook I'm not on Tik Tok you know or or SnapChat to that extent so you're constantly beholding stuff that has not been valid that has not been vetted as truth presenting themselves as truth that's the only problem I have with social media and it makes sense I think like we understand to your point earlier the the constructive use of social media because right now even what we're doing the podcast yeah social media C exension of social media we just kind of we're talking about we're just kind of thinking about okay how how can we be responsible with it as Christians I I think first of all this

another pastor says when you get to heaven you are going to pay tithe and people are amplifying that okay that's interesting another Pastor said you have to summon you have to summon people's Spirits the last person that interacted with the spirit of a man in that context was the guy who was messing around with the spirit of a dead man and God is like is there something wrong with you right so but the person who is speaking has a stature has followers so before you know what's happening the whole hundreds of thousands of people believing that when they get to heaven they're going to pay TI or hundreds of thousand of people believing that the Pastor said the church is a business so I don't mean to digress but how how will you pay ties in heaven I'm just trying to see what the proc going to look like let's say it's possible how how do you how do you so so so so when you get to heaven I'm assuming when you get to heaven there will be a service right and God will be the head Pastor Jesus will be the associate pastor and the Holy Spirit will be the head user okay right and after the service they will pass around the basket with what money what would you be the streets are paved with gold now so your church the street to you know that's some of the Ridiculousness of these things right the Bible talks about how in heaven everybody in heaven is is worshiping he's worshiping how do you get into the presence of God be confronted with the glory of God and do anything else except worship that's why 24/7 everybody around God is worshiping the ones who have crowns they are throwing their crowns at his feet because their crowns are worthless so what is the tithe for if it is not maybe what he meant maybe what he meant was that when you get to you going to worship because the tithe because the tithe is worship okay but how about saying it in a way that does not imply that you are going to go to heaven and be given 10% of your income because you don't even have income you know what I'm saying no I guess my question is then for so we're we're we're giving examples of things that seem a little far-fetched or like a little well just like church chur like church church is a business because Jesus said I must be about my father's business or someone the spirit of your children but I guess my question is then for things that are are almost like close enough but not really like they're saying some like it sounds true or that's the problem Oh but like like relationship advice oh God or like yeah like like how to find like marriage and not man like biblical yeah or yeah and they're giving opinions anden us like as a Believer how then do you like weigh this information or like discern I feel like I know scripture no no seriously speaking I I I kid you not scripture see this is the

husband find a man that is a true Christian if you want a woman that is a good wife find a woman that is a true Christian a Christian again not a religious person a Christian right should be functioning well right in all the different areas of life right the spirit of God on the inside of you right should be giving you Insight in every situation when my wife and I quir the holy spirit with some psychologist the holy spirit is going to call you out I think what we typically do will be like okay let me look for a spouse that is a good Christian so we go on social media we go what is the good doesn't the Holy Spirit have an answer to that doesn't the Holy Spirit have an answer to every question yeah right doesn't the Holy Spirit have the ability right to give you wisdom right now hear me I'm not saying that um um we don't Bible says in the in the multitude of counsel there's safety right but I'm saying that our our confidence and our dependence on the holy spirit is not really primary when I have a question I pray and say God give me an answer I talk to L I talk to tday right but I have asked God my expectation that God will use either of these people to speak to say we we should be looking for vessels right but you go for a conference and all the conference is doing is telling you how to feel good about yourself how to be happy right the Bible says in this world you will have tribulations count it all joy when you fall into diverse problems troubles right count it all joy Rejoice count it Joy when things are not going the way you think they should go everything that we are hearing is to try and make sure that we don't have these tribulations but the Bible says you're going to have it and the solution is to ask yourself many times right what is God trying to have been so down on himself he would have felt like oh my God look at where my mates at he would have resented his life but God was taking him somewhere the path to the to Glory passes through having its perfect work right will make you mature and complete right so that you will lack nothing we want to go from zero to lack nothing without passing through the testing of our faith without passing through perseverance without passing through being mature and complete in this world you will have many troubles yeah so why do we why do you in your opinion think that we we still like we know this we we well I feel like we even if it's intellectually we've heard about this and over again but our initial and primary to your point response is still Escape yes how do we not yeah because knowledge of what God is doing is predicated on his knowledge of how much God loves him how can you love me send your son to die for me are you're going to watch me you know what that means to me that graduate when you're good right so we take that approach to Christianity but Christianity again religion Judaism Islam right um Hinduism all of those religions are on the same premise Judaism says obey the 600 13 laws Christianity says Jesus Christ obeyed the 613 laws I believe in Jesus therefore in Christ I have obeyed the 613 laws right but that's not what we teach people we teach people Jesus Christ died for you so that you can obey the law so that he can give you strength to obey the laws so ultimately we're saying to people Jesus died for you but you still have to obey the laws and God is still going to judge you and assess you based on the laws is it possible that I'm trying to reflect yeah that we say we want God but what we really want is what God can do for us yes that's how we go on social media absolutely absolutely God is a vending machine a benevolent a benevolent vending machine give him what he wants he gives you what you want doesn't matter how much he knows this is bad for you we have to start to look at God in the context of Christ the Bible says God is love love think about what that means as a father think about what love means it means that you will only permit what is in the best interest of this your child of this person that you sent your son to die for so now when I experienced a delay in the past when I experienced a delay I thought it was because I either I hadn't fasted enough I hadn't prayed enough I hadn't given enough maybe I had some evil thoughts in my heart and when I was sure my heart was not evil maybe my ancestors or my father yes when I repented of all the you know my father is from uh from um um a place in Nigeria called ik state right and you know they do some stuff in that place so I I repented of all the sins down to the you know trying to trace my NE my genealogy to the first human being repenting of everybody's sin then when I finish repenting of that one and the situation hadn't changed I went to my mother's side my mother is from Lagos State right but she was a devout Muslim but I'm thinking you know Lagos people they do AO maybe They Carried masc you know and you know me I like flashy things that what is the premise all of these things are in the old Covenant they're in the Old Testament you don't go into the New Covenant you don't go into the New Testament and see Paul telling somebody that it is the scene of your ancestors that is making your tent making business fail yeah but honestly people I think what I think it is is because even if you go post if you go into your new testament people people people that say things like show me your faith without works obviously again there's context to it because the the heart itself is like no there is no way I have to work I I can't to deserve something CU we are conformed to the world I have to work to earn it so I know PF is saying all these nice things about the grace of God or whatever but it's not natural to me I have to earn it that's the problem that's why the Bible says labor to enter into his rest labor because you are fighting you know the Bible says do not be conformed to the world but be transformed by the immorality per se it's this meritocratic system that is the biggest problem we have as as Christians followers of Christ specifically the idea that I don't have to work to earn it I earn it because he before the Lord so he doesn't ask you to improve your righteousness he gives you his own so we are the righteousness of God God gave us his righteousness right righteousness that comes from man is not way put it but basically it was saying what makes the altar holy what makes the offering holy is it the offering or the altar Matthew 23 the altar is is there's nothing you offer on this altar that is good nothing so when somebody comes and tells you man you need to offer better meat on your altar man what altar the one that is already defiled by the sin of Adam right so God cannot take anything wine skin right and a lot of this stuff is old wine skin right what we need ask yourself this right why are we not seeing transformation in the church right if it's not by power by might why is God not releasing the power that transforms Lives why do people work very hard ramp up all their energy and they are good for like two months or one year and they get burnt out and they go back I think because we don't really want it no it's not that we don't want it we never had it the Holy Spirit H is able to keep you say God just say whatever you have given to me I will keep until the end a lot you're saying right careful what you put inside careful be careful you expose yourself to 90% of the big names in in the faith on social media are poison pill pushers from Nigeria from Ghana from America all over 90% And I say that 10% because I know that there's a remant that has not bowed the knee you don't see a lot of them some guys they start talking and they're saying the right things and you get excited and then they now start saying some other things cuz you know they got to like like what like what you just said something did I hear what I think this guy said yeah I must not have but but that's that's the reality right so so for me when I go on social media now I'm not looking for um I'm careful I'm very careful what I hear very very careful right I'm thinking about what has been said but I'm not thinking about it in isolation I'm thinking about it in light of scripture so when I hear somebody say something like if they don't celebrate you be gone and the basis of that theory is when these when the disciples when they were going around and they said oh if they don't receive Us in this Village Jesus Christ said you know dust your feet and and and leave them that is the basis of it right when I hear that right and I'm like okay these people that they not that they say they don't celebrate you why are they not being celebrated is it was Jesus celebrated was was Jesus not a Man of Sorrows acquainted with grief right did he not suffer you know what I'm saying so when when you hear some things right you want to ask which Bible are you people reading that's the question that I want us to ask when we're on social media right this thing you said how does it line up with this the fact that I'm a I have a 2,000 people on my feed or I have 20 million people does not make what I'm saying accurate what makes it accurate is that it lines up with the word but you yourself that you are trying to judge accuracy do you know the word are you in the word or are you on a diet of nonsense from social media garbage in garbage out man it is what it is can we play segment can we do a called called what will you do okay let's do Let's do let's do it yeah um I want to try because my instinct would be to choose 95 and Heaven sh right but that is such an interesting thing I never I don't think God will ever ask you that yeah mean I don't hypothetical yeah just us to know what I right because what our instincts will go for we know what our our Instinct our Instinct will be stay stay for as long as you can if I'm guaranteed eternal life and you know interesting thing right I I believe God built that instinct in us right that tenacity and hunger for life life is hard right the weak don't survive you have to want to live to live life wants to kill you daily right you know what I'm saying there's a constant attempt to off you right you have to have a zest for Life yeah otherwise you will just be gone so we have this natural desire to live when God made Adam I don't think death was a part of the equation so he didn't code into us a preparation or an awareness of death and what was on the other side we were supposed to live forever it was sin that truncated that right and nobody has been able to go there and come back and tell us what's on the other side to reassure us right so we have this hunger for life right but God does not share that hunger right God looks at life the way life is it's a Continuum so death for God is not the same thing as death for us so because I look at some people that God allowed them to kill right Heaven Must Be a great place why did he let them kill Steven like Steven Z is the one that gets me the most they saw them stoning the guy and Jesus got up and said oh yeah be coming he didn't say leave my guy alone he allowed them kill Steven there was no plan to resurrect him in in the sense of resurrecting Lazarus or Jesus he let them kill St why would he let them kill Steven that means that being on the earth can't be all or that right but we think it is because we don't know what's on the other side he knows that's all we've known yes so I don't feel like he you know the way we go freak out about death I don't think God freaks out about it like that I feel like he's like okay you know so if you're going to die I feel like the way they look at it is what is the best use we can how I think the way you die is this is PF on filter right P filtered I believe the way you died is chosen for maximum impact on the people who are alive J I believe God chooses the way you die to impact the people who are left behind right some people their death will bring other people to Christ you will die in such a way that the people around you will come to Christ if it is a sudden death you know you sleep in your bed and you go peacefully to Heaven if that is going to inspire people to come to Christ you're going to die you're going to die it doesn't matter how you go you like okay okay like like a peaceful death we're going to get five people let's give him a peaceful death but if like a violent death it's going to bring 20 people to Christ you're going to die violent death that's interesting is utility that's how I look at it yeah that's fair pter me yeah that's how I look at it now there's no scripture to back this up you put a point my opin but seriously think about it when my sister died my whole family became Christians but her death was long and dra up right it caused a Revival in my family that has lasted to this day close to 30 something years right she could have died in her sleep if she had died in her sleep I would not be a Christian my father would not be a Christian I can guarantee you that but she died in a way that she was going to heaven anyway right she was you know what I'm I did a segment just to see like what the cuz I'm trying to reconcile like our initial instincts we don't want to die we don't want to die I don't want to die nobody want die but if no I want to go to after I die yeah nobody want die but want go two face eventually that is kind of me nobody die but when but when I die I want to go to heaven I don't want to die I know I'm going to die yeah and the older you get the days get shorter days get for me right today Sunday tomorrow is Saturday like it's it goes by so fast yeah cuz we've gone to that stage where our who is we like like we no the we get we you know there who we we get we go to Stage like you know this are just shorter no time okay so the days are shorter for you right for me there even shorter exactly for us at the risk of anyway the point I'm trying to make is this right you get to a certain age some people say oh Legacy Legacy Legacy why are you thinking of your legacy cuz you know your time is short right you get to a certain age and you and you know you know when you are young you actually don't know yeah they don't get it yeah they don't get it right they there's a thinking that I have time time and you wake up one day and you are like dang I have lived more than half of my life based off of historical Trends right and you look back and you're like where did all of that time go and how quickly did all of that time go by and you know what is you know it's downhill what you don't know is when and hopefully you don't know how if you guys didn't catch Jesus it's downhill your body your body this body that you have relied on starts to tell you guy I don't know if I'm going on that trip with you w you can go I will stay I'm staying here you get up from the sofa right you've done this a million times and one day you get up and all of a sudden your your back is like chill not like that everything I saying I get it so that's why no gets was oh guess what right the things that you cared about it's like they always say old people who are are very um what's the word grandparents SP kids you know why by the time you get to that age you know a lot of things that you hustled about and they don't matter they don't matter they really don't matter because you've seen life and then you're thinking that life is so short why don't want to spend the rest of it fighting with his child when I can spend it Ling this child fighting with this child is not going to make any difference to the child's life but loving the child is going to make me happy so they just wants everybody around them happy because they know that this life man is transient someone someone Someone wise once told me that your a birth a death certificate is more impactful than a birth certificate and he kind of fold it with the point you're making about like nowadays because he knows he go to die soon all the that he was worried about before just like so trivial somebody said want my wife said she wanted to get me a gift I said for what I don't need it like really I don't need it I said the one I have I will repair it 7 years ago ah man I'm collecting that gift to but now who cares there are more important things more impactful things to do right so now my life is driven by two things two things number one making Maximum Impact that is why I am doing podcast I'm doing Sunday service I'm doing a couple of other things I got a couple of other things in the pipeline but I'm also aware that my productive time as a physical person diminishes so I have to actually actively plan for my retirement right I have to make sure that I have the resources to live the kind of life I want to live and you know one of the things that happens with the Prosperity Gospel is that many of us are not encouraged to prepare for retirement right so we're in this state where we're waiting on God to do something miraculous which usually means money comes from somewhere right but I'm getting to that point where like Bro you've been doing this thing now for how many years and money has not come from anywhere right you better ask God for a retirement plan because mhm you know I can see when I was younger I could go for days on little food and hardly any sleep now now my body is like Uncle respect yourself white r asked you white r you planting but no avocados no avocados that's that's disgusting but when you get the point I'm trying to make right you you you start to realize yeah that a lot of the things that you thought were important are not as important right you start to realize that a lot of the things that you were taught is nonsense because time has proven that is nonsense right you know one of the things that I find very amusing about church and when a pastor comes and gives a testimony of how he gave a million and God blessed him you know somebody in the church came and gave him $10 million so you that you have only $5 give it and somebody will come and give you 150,000 NAA and I I want to say but I've been in church people give to the pastor if you are in service if you come to church nine times out of 10 if somebody has money to give they're going to give it to the pastor and the other person so that principle always works for the pastor yeah right it always works people give to the pastor about the conation so when the pastor comes and gives that testimony of how he gave and he got you're like duh what else he expect what about that get but but yeah when you give to worship God God responds to your worship God responds to your worship God treats your worship as a seed and He blesses you right part of the blessing that He blesses you is not that somebody will come and put money under your pillow is that he will give you ideas which you might ignore if you're waiting for somebody to put on money under your pillow we know you heard the story now the guy who was there was a flood and sitting on the roof of his house praying to God right and God sends somebody in a boat he said now I'm waiting on God God send somebody in a canoe somebody and then eventually he dies God is like how many ways am I going to talk to you but you know he heard on social media that look all you have to do is give up give up if you give to the poor it does nothing for you B says if you give to the poor you Lear to God the Bible says you are blessed if you give to the poor I bet someone quotes the poor always be among you that's about the poor will always be among you does he say you shouldn't give to them but you know the way it's interpreted shows the heart behind the if you give to the poor doesn't mean your giving will make the poor Rich right that that's your giving is not what will make the poor Rich right but it makes you rich in the eyes of God right and God responds to that right he responds to your generosity because your generosity is a reflection of his generosity I mean the disciples in that context were saying waste sell the oil go and give it to the poor and Christ was like guys the poor you always have with you so so what Christ was saying was don't take the oil that was made for my worship and give to the poor one the guys of morality yes he didn't say don't give to the poor right right he said don't give to the poor Bible says give unto Cesar what is Cesar give unto God what is God there's a a portion for everybody in your in your income some belongs to the poor some belongs to you some belongs to God that is what we should say but social media somebody's going to come up there and says if you give to the poor you are you are you're not doing anything for yourself and some idiots will not read their Bible and they to say Pro I'm not giving you if is not calling anybody idiot I'm calling people idiots oh sorry wow yes you're an idiot if you don't read your Bible read your Bible AKA just carry some small sense like you only have one teacher like guard your heart don't be to so because somebody come and tell you that giving to the poor is is is is a waste of your money and and you too you too out of your it's like 419 your your greed and your is what makes holds you captive sorry that kind of your greet and your AAR he said he said what's the other word avaris avaris that oh Jesus this not an English class no but you keep throwing me jumping like that which school did you go to again you can't say it in prob no no please let's us to kind of like view everything through the lens of script lens of scripture and like literally like raise it against the standard of Christ like is this Christ and if it's not um then I think sometimes it's just easier to to listen to what makes you feel good but instead of doing the work but I think more and more I'm just like it's that's much more important to go back and be like what does Jesus have to say about this um remember what um sorry the Bible say I study to show yourself approved a Workman who needs not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of Truth we don't rightly divide anymore because we don't study to show ourselves approved we study to to um um to to like yeah you know by the way just I love the way she always brings us back to yeah abely you and then she
