(0:00)Should Pastors Be Paid?

Do you think that preachers, musicians that are doing things for Christ should be paid? Yes. Do you think that that should include people that host Sonic podcast? Yes. I think what the Bible says, do not muzzle the ox, the threads, the corn. What does that mean? It means that the ox that is making the the the flower, he's going to eat some of the stuff. Don't don't stop him from doing that. That's number one. Number two, the Bible also says that if you have been blessed spiritually, those that have ministered the word of God to you, you also should minister to them material things.

(0:32)The Reality of Getting Older

So what's the most unfair thing that happened to you? I realized that I am getting old, you know. So that was a difficult realization that you know what I'm on the downward side of the mountain now. It's a tough reality. Yeah. Yeah. I've lived longer than I've lived for more than half of my lifetime. They say what you lose in age you gain in wisdom. How do you feel about that? Wisdom is absolutely I agree with you. I think that what you lose in age and what you lose in strength you gain in wisdom. Unfiltered.

(1:05)Welcome Back to Season 3

Welcome back everybody. Welcome back to PF unfiltered. And my name is Esther Griffin and I have my co-host with me today and his name is Say It. Wow. Hey, we are back. This is season three. She has she has collected her freedom. She has graduated. Her apprenticeship is over. Do you want to introduce yourself real quick? Yeah. So, um, most of y'all probably know me as BMI, but I'm also known as Roslin. I'm sorry. Most of us know as what? All right. Bisa period. Um yeah, we're back. We're back. We're back. We're back. Yeah. But um I'm also I serve on like a drama department, social media department as well. Where? Yeah, I'm on the drama team. What? For what church? Wait, what church you at? Oh, for New Covenant House. No, New Covenant House. I don't know, but I did hear that it's one of the fastest growing Oh my god. Oh my god. Here we go again. According to some sources, I agree with you. The fastest growing church in the metroplex. Exactly. There you go. Are you receiving? Okay. And then we have the hostess with the mostess. The main the reason why we're here apart from Jesus, apart from Jesus is the man himself. The hostess with the most doesn't even Pastor Femayo.

(2:32)The Meaning of Mirth

Y I've missed you guys, man. Are you sure? I've been boring without you guys, man. You guys inject a level of ner into my life that is just unbelievable. What? That's a That's a small word, but it was kind of big. Wait, what did you what? Let's not do this this year. We did it last episode. Let's not do it this episode. We're trying to grow. Yes. Grow body and in our vocabulary as well. Can you please for the audience as well? Like what does that mean? Mirth. Mirthth. M joy. M laughter. Oh wow. Amusement. Please comment below if you know what that word meant cuz I have never heard that in my life. You'd be embarrassed that everybody would say we knew this when we were like two. Well, I doubt it. I I I I sincerely doubt. To be honest, you're the only one. Yeah. I don't think anyone else know where that was around. I have been alive for 33 years. That's my first time. North. Wow. Man, you guys did you go to school? Yes. Yes, we did. Where? I'm not going to say. Okay. Please don't. Yeah. Well, now that we're back, you know, back in acting like we never left. Clearly. Yeah. We're going to reflect back on last season. So, guys, you guys not learning English. That's what happened last season. What happened last season? Yeah. I mean, we got that was sensational and we had 10,000 people. 10,000 virtual subscribers. We're so so grateful. You guys are awesome. I really really appreciate you guys. You guys have you know you just make this worth it. Bless you. I think even for me like last season was so life-changing. I think I it was I learned a lot from the podcast. English. I actually did learn some some words from me. I already knew a little bit of English. I think as far as like my education goes and academics, we're not going farther than what we are going now. Those sound like very far. But in terms of life changing, I think from the heart like just the way that I look at my life, I look at my posture within Christ and like now I just abide. I fight to abide in Christ. Yeah. Then no longer striving. My work here is done. Well, I mean, do you walk? So if you if you're proud, I'm I'm proud. I guess my question now is since like last season was so fulfilling and transformational for you,

(4:47)What to Expect This Season

right? What is this season going to bring for people that are paying attention? Listen, me like are we going to get deeper? We're going to get deeper. Get more unfiltered. But the questions that I'm going to be asking PF this season, nobody will hear word again. I think I think for me my my my expectation is that this season we will we'll get deeper into the word. Yeah. Right. Uh um my my expectation is that this season we will have a lot more um robust conversations right and the conversations have been pretty robust but you know even deeper you know um we're planning to have um some guests come on you know um worship leaders ministers regular folks you know we're going to talk about money we're going to talk about um coffin season what is that in this day I don't understand you know what c season is yeah We're going to we're going to talk about acting brand new. We're going to talk about, you know, uh um um worship, you know, we're going to have people come talk about money. There's a couple of folks who are doing some really good work. They've got a podcast as well. Um and

(5:55)Upcoming Guest Lineup

Sammy in Sync. So, it's going to be a really good season. I mean, shout them out. 20 years of marriage. 20 years of marriage. Wow. That's a lot. I love people. What I feel like I feel like 20 years of marriage is one thing, but we should say 20 years of like fulfilled and happy marriage cuz the quantity is one you know is not just but they are happy about like obviously you're right quantity and quality right and and I know them quite well. They've got they're doing well and and the reason what I really like about their marriage is not one of this syrupy unbelievable unreal. It's real and they're real folks. So, they're going to be here. Um um some of my friends um who are just they inspire me. They're younger, but they inspire me on financial issues. Um Dami and Lola are going to be here. Um just we have a great lineup of regular folks. Um folks you already know. Um Walia Denuga is going to be here. Well, didn't be my friend from when Adam was still a little boy in the Garden of Eden playing. Okay. You know, that's when I Sorry. Um, how old are you? Old enough to have been in Garden of Eden. Yeah, I'm just kidding. But, you know, we've got we've got a great lineup of of folks coming in for the year. Um, so I'm really looking forward to the this season. You know, maybe we'll get my wife to come again. my better have the sugar in my tea and and all what not. She's listening so I have to say these things otherwise there'll be problems. Um so yeah, you know, it's going to be a great season. So good. So I'm curious. Um what's some of like since last season, what's like the most unfiltered thing that's been going on with people? Like what's a life update? Tind you first. Yeah, you go. You go. No, I don't like see this kind of questions are difficult for me to answer. All right, because first and foremost, I get a little shy in front of my PF family. Um, that's one. How does it feel? I hear people are walking up to you now. You're you're like you're you're celebrity now, huh? I want to say a quick shout out to everyone listening and subscribing. Seriously, weird. It's like four people, but it's getting to my Oh my god. You can always get to my head.

(8:14)The Unfiltered Life Updates

Honestly, I think that's overwhelmingly the most unfiltered thing that's happened to me from last people walk up to you. And genuinely like I appreciate you. I appreciate your banter. I don't like the way you inter interrupt PF sometimes, but it's okay. I don't like the way you talk about Esther behind her back, but it's okay. You know, like I I I just their feedback is just so moving, you know. I I Yeah, I think that's for me for sure the most unputable moment for me. It's all about you. What was your most unfiltered? Unfiltered? Well, y'all, I started a business or whatever. I'm sorry. Sorry. Pause. Pause. That was the most unfiltered thing that happened to you last since you started a business. Do you know how long I've been praying that God will give me something that I can do? That's me. You're right. You're right. I have to be doing 9 to5 every day. You're right. You're right. Amen. Amen. This guy, this guy is not He doesn't understand this. Yeah. I don't I don't get entrepreneurial life. I actually don't. I'm a I'm a I'm a firstborn baby. M okay. Sorry. The rest of us are not. But you know what I mean. I'm going to be the person that provides my kids with the life to be trust from babies. Yeah. So that's I'm not laughing. I'm laughing because I can see it. Yeah. You know, I have a lot of confidence in you. Yeah. No, I'm I'm serious. I have a lot of faith and confidence in you. I kid you not. I believe that you're going to do great. You have that energy for it. Yeah. You have you have the you have you have that drive and you have the grace. Thank you very much. God will bless the work of your hands. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Oh wow. Um wow. Okay. Yeah. So I guess the most unfiltered thing honestly I've been going through a pruning season with God. So he's been kind of cutting out all these bad habits. You want to tell us a most humbling experience. Yeah. We're listening. Do you want to share any bad habits? Anyone? Just one. just one. Um, hopefully pineapples. I would say like starting something and not finishing it. Especially after like like for example I'm always complaining about like like oh I need to study. I want to get um like increase my salary so I can pay off debts, do all this, but then I'm not studying like make taking up new skills or doing the work to do it. Like I'll start and then like just be like okay like get lazy. So God like kind of was like humbling me like how do you want me to help you but you're not even helping yourself. you're not even doing the work. So, that's just one. There's many other things, but yeah, that's that's an interesting season that I don't want to be there. Yeah, it's it's I be crying sometimes. I'll be like, "God, I don't want to do this."

(10:45)Feelings vs. Facts

I know doesn't like feelings. I'm thinking I don't have problems with feelings. I just feel like, you know, feelings should not always be on display, you know? I feel like we're very quick to show our feelings as opposed to our thoughts. It's the generation. Yeah. You all be feeling stuff, man. Mhm. You do speakings. It's the generation. What's the What's the most unofficial thing that happened to you? I realize that I am getting old. Come on, people. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. What signs? No, no, no. I realize I'm getting old. I realize that I need to rest a lot more. I need a lot more rest and I you you know I'm not that old. Don't misunderstand. Yeah. 45 or something. Yeah. I know I look 45, but I'm actually 50. Six. Six. Six. Right. And I realized that usually I can do all night, you know, all nighters. I can work hard. But I realized this on avenue. Yes. This time I realized that Yeah. Yeah. E I need some sleep, you know. So that was a difficult realization that you know what, I'm on the downward side of the mountain now. That's a tough reality. Yeah. Yeah. I've lived longer than I've lived for more than half of my lifetime. They say what you lose in age, you gain in wisdom. How do you feel about that?

(12:14)Wisdom vs. Information

Wisdom is absolutely I agree with you. I think that what you lose in age and what you lose in strength, you you gain in wisdom. M that's good. You you you with age comes just a matter of the number of days you've been on the planet, the the scenarios you've been exposed to, the situations you've been in, you have learned a lot more, you know, like you read more books, you just it's just a function of time. Yeah. Right. How much can you achieve in 20 years versus how much can you sorry how much can you experience in 20 years versus how much can you experience in 50 years? Right. So obviously the older you are the more information the more data you are able to gather. The problem sometimes is that people don't process that data right? So they have a lot of information but they don't process it or apply it. Um so yeah I think I'm at that point where I'm realizing that you know what we've been here for a minute and we need to we need to start to acknowledge it in the way that we move you know and in the way that we sleep and in the way that we exercise. I have this um gym thing in my house, right? Bought it when we moved in, hung it on the wall, and I have not used it since I bought it. So, you don't work out? I'm I'm You're not running around tracks. No, no, no. I'm working out now. I'm going to start working out, too. Why? Why did I feel petty? You felt it, right? Something like a whiff. I felt it. It was like It was like something. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. I I asked for that, right? I'm not running around the track aimlessly, but I'll be doing exercise, you know, because I need to maintain muscle mass, bone density. They do that at the Olympics. They lift weights and they're like in body. They do that and and and they do that to what end? For a medal, I think. For medal. Well, I'm not there for money. And and money. I'm not doing it for either. I'm doing it for longevity and strength and quality of life and quality of experience. I'll be a grandfather when my children start having children. Amen. Amen. to run around with them, you know. Run around with who? The kids. That's what their parents are here for. A godfather is here just to spoil kids, man. I don't run around with nobody. That's actually a hot topic. Why do you think that happens? Like when um like when like you're okay, you've raised your kids. Now your kids are having kids. No, no, no. They're not having kids yet. Yet. Okay. Yet. When they start having kids, right? I'm I'm prophesying. I received the prophecy. So when they're having when they start having kids, why do you feel like you're going to spoil them opposed to helping helping your children raise your kids in the way that they should go? My children deserve my children deserve it. All the stress they gave me. Child, they they they stressed me. So I'm going to help their children stress them. This is payback. Really? Ah wait first pay back aka you know helps us build resilience. You have just comes to help all the time. how we grow, what they sow, this is when they reap it. You know what happened the other day? I'm trying to raise my kids in the way like in the in the sense that when we go outside, you should not be asking people for food because I've already given you food at home, right? They're hungry. You're not hungry. No. No. But when you were growing up, did you ask me for for food outside? You don't ask people for food outside. Did you ask for your best friend's house like this is my mom told me, don't ask people for food outside. But all the things you're hungry, you do. Yes. I started doing after a while. Okay. after. So I will I will facilitate the children doing it after a while. Can we define what outside is? If it's my cousin, that's outside. What if I'm hungry? Too bad. I actually have um like a friend where their father would not let them take like leftovers. Like you know how when you go to African parties, it's just overflux of food. You know, we going to get some takeway. Those are not take away. Take away. Like they will not let him take the takeaway. He was like, "No, why are you acting like we don't have food at house?" It's just like, brother, this food. Then the little kids come, they want to do the same thing. We're trying to teach them the things that y'all taught us. And you're like, I will not facilitate my grandchildren to have food outside. I will take them personally to the grocery store, take them to the candy aisle and buy out the grocery store so their parents can have so their parents can spend money at the dentist so they can build resilience, right? And whatever. I don't care what he's building. I'm just going to do it. I will take them to the store and I'll take them to the toy toy aisle and I'll tell them listen right anything you want you can have and if I don't give it to you please slam yourself on the floor throw a tantrum to get my attention to do it 50% sarcasm for sure you think so what you're a man of and my goal is to bring the word of God like kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven wow joy joy yeah joy comes from inside from no my kids have my grandchildren must throw tantrums cuz my children threw tantrums and stress me. So their children must stress them. What kind of h so they can build character and resilience? Yes. No. This is what I have been waiting for. No, he feels really strong about this top positive lately. He's like not letting me. I know because we know that grandparents actually do this thing. Yes. Come to our house and I've already told my mom and my mother-in-law, you've already raised your own. Let me raise my own. Yes. No. Yes, no problem. But I promise you that I will be the one that every rule you make, I will ignore. Fair enough. Don't eat candy. I will give them candy. Don't drink soda. I will buy them gallons of soda. Wow. Don't eat chocolate. I will make them chocolate bon bonss myself. That's why my sons are always coming. They're always coming to get candy from me. I have you seen my You see my office? Yeah. I have a bowl of candy. That's why the kids love me, man. Zen is like, "Can we go to the office? Can we go say hi?" Think about it though. The kids love the pastor of the church. How many did you love the pastor of your church? I did actually. The first one. First one. Did he give you candy? No, they didn't give me candy. That would be so weird. I'm going to lie. In all my years of growing up in church, you're like the first pastor that I felt like was approachable. See, I give candy to the kids. Well, I don't know about that one. For sure. I'm I'm laid back. I'm a ch guy. Yeah, you for sure. Easy skank. this one that we have PF in in this mood. You know, there any hot takes I want to bring to the table and see how you react to it. I'm sorry. What What mood? You are you happy golucky today? I'm I'm happy. Episode one relaxed and chilled. Say something that's annoying. You guys can say something annoying real quick and give give an opportunity to express Let's give BF opportunity to express himself. like what any hot takes that y'all got that you wanted to I mean we talked about this before the cameras um were rolling but I do want to I do want us to elaborate on it a little bit. Do you think that preachers, musicians that are doing things for Christ should be paid? Yes. Do you think that that should include people that host Sonic podcast? Yes. I think that the Bible I think what the Bible says do not muzzle the ox that threats the corn. What does that mean? It means that the ox that is making the the flour is going to eat some of the stuff. Don't stop him from doing that. That's number one. Number two, the Bible also says that if you have been blessed spiritually, those that have ministered the word of God to you, you also should minister to them material things, right? So if somebody comes and preaches a message that blesses you, Bible math is that you bless the person material, right? And is not Old Testament. It is the New Testament. Does it say that? It abs absolutely says that and you can look it up, right? Um Paul said, "I'm a tent maker and because I have a, you know, I'm making tents, I don't really need to um ask you guys for money, but I do appreciate it though that the other apostles who don't have a job like I do, they they they they have a right to ask you. So this idea that people should serve without being paid is is a is a lie from the pit of hell, right? And it is driven by demonic forces that want to undermine the credibility of the gospel, right? And when Christians out of ignorance are not reading the word perpetrate it, they make themselves agents agents of darkness. Right? Because let me explain. You have a generation who do not want anything to do with the gospel because they associate the gospel with poverty. We have kids, pastors kids struggle many times. Not people think, oh, pastor's children struggle because their parents are hypocrites. Mhm. Right. But a lot of the times they struggle because they see how their parents are treated. Yeah. By the congregation. see the hours their parents put in to work, right, over just a a basic blessing. Mhm. If I'm a full-time pastor, my children need to go to school. Mhm. Their fees need to be paid. Clothes need to be put on their back. It needs to be put in their mouth. Yeah. Right. Where is that going to come from? Right. It's ridiculous to think that somehow mana falls from the sky for the pastor but doesn't fall for the sky for for for you. Yeah. Right. To to to pastor a church the size of our church is a full-time job. It's a full-time job. I am on call 24/7 every single time. And there's an expectation that I'll pick up the phone. Right. In my old age now that the church has grown and you know we have more hands, right? I have a bit more time to say I want to, you know, maybe start a business. But why am I starting a business? Because for the last 20s something years that I have passed out, there's not a dime in my retirement account, right? And when I retire, who's going to fund that? Yeah. You know, God has made provision for me. Yeah. Through the church that I pastor. So when somebody says, "Oh, pastors should not be paid." I'm like, let me not say what comes to mind cuz this is still a Christian. I would I would hope that God uses the sheep when you at that stage in your life that you shepherd to fun not fun but like you know I I I think organically I think God does not work like that. I think sorry I think sheep don't work like that. Okay. Right. Sheep I'm not going to depend on any sheep. Well, I get you know depending on I'm not going to my because you have folks among the sheep who think that you know I should not be enumerated for my time. Right. One of the things that happened during the summer where musicians there was a big um hu and cry about musicians um charging a fee for when they would come to minister in churches and some pastors said why are they getting paid? It's ridiculous. And I think honestly speaking the pastors who are saying that are are full of it. Right. This person is a musician. That's what he does. He spends time honing his craft. He spends time, you know, preparing for the the the the event. Yep. Right. And then he's supposed to somehow magically be able to pay his bills. Cuz the time you use paying his bills is the time that he has used to prepare for your ministration. And he comes in there and he ministers, right? And you expect him to walk away from that thing empty-handed. And yes, he's going to put a charge on it because he cannot trust you to do the right thing. He doesn't trust you to do the right thing. Yes, you heard the Holy Spirit and you ignore the Holy Spirit. Right? So, I'm not going to trust you to to to to to give me what is fair. So, I'm going to set a number. And if you can't afford it, well, fine. What about this? What about on the other hand, when it comes to payment? when you hear like pastors are abusing like buying jets. Obviously, we know that there's not a lot of pastors doing that now that we know of that have come to light, but that was a thing back then that pastors are or ministers are spending the quote unquote church money. So, so see I I I had this conversation with my sister-in-law a long time ago before she passed away and I had an attitude about somebody who had bought a jet and she said, "Do you realize that somebody has an attitude about the fact that you're wearing shoes? M why do you need to wear shoes? What what what what are you buying Gucci shoes for? What are you buying designer shoes for? Somebody will always have an attitude about something. Somebody will always think something is excessive. There's always somebody who thinks something you're doing is excessive. Having said that, I think that before you condemn anybody, you should look at their life and look at their need. There's some pastors who, my personal opinion, I don't see the need for a private jet in their life, in their ministry. But I've been with a pastor who like and I told this story before those days when tickets were papers. Mhm. His his tickets would be this thick cuz he was flying from place to place and he was spending hours and hours in the airport with catch flights. Right. And if God has made available the resources to buy a jet that will take him from point A to point B, right? Right. Without denying one needy person Mhm. the resources that they need, right? Absolutely. I would not be grudging that jet. But if it's a vanity thing, right? If it's a, oh, just, you know, everybody's buying a private jet, so let them buy private jets. I I would have a problem with it. But we can't we can't determine that. We don't know that for sure. So, we should find out. We should find out before we talk. But again, I'm not here to carry water for anybody buying private jets. If you see me with a private jet right now, it's a vanity. It's a it's a it's a thing of vanity. I don't need it. I don't preach all over the world. But I don't spend I hate flying. I don't spend hours in the airport. You know what I'm saying? So, but if I was speaking all over the world, right? And I'm spending 10 20 hours in layovers in an airport ch lounge. That's crazy. And I'm telling you this because I know this and this man of God, I'm not I don't listen to his sermons or anything. It's not like some I'm a fan of him like that, but I I was a witness to his life. So when he bought his jet and everybody was going, I didn't say a word cuz I felt he needed it. Now there are other pastors who have private jets. I'm like what are you doing with it? But you know like my sister-in-law said somebody is asking why can't you drive a bicycle? Why can't you ride a bicycle? Why do you need a car? Why do you have to buy this car? My wife bought me a car for my one of my birthdays. She bought me a car. She bought me a really nice car. You know what somebody said to me? What? Pastor, why don't you sell that car and give it to the poor? Yes. And buy a cheaper car. Can you kid not? It was a car, an SUV. Somebody thought it was too much. A car was too much. And I said to the person, let me But I do have a question too. So like take it back a little bit to where we were saying like should the church pay like their people? So let's say on the other end when they want to do an event and pay like let's say you know some of your members that are decors or catering people or have all these different skills and you want them to like you know be a part of making towards that event. I feel like sometimes they don't pay they want to be like well you know you're a member you should do it for free but it's like that's my this is my skill like I've worked hard to learn this. I don't do that and I'll tell you why I think people do it right. We want to get as much. We want to stretch the dollar as far as possible. Right? Churches, my church that the church I pastor runs on donations, right? So, if somebody comes and says, "Hey, um, I've got a service in the church. I I I I have a service that I can offer the church." And they say, "We want to we want you to pay, right?" We'll pay them if they are giving us um value for money. Absolutely, we'll pay them. But if they're not giving value for money, I'm not going to pay you. Okay. No, I would rather you volunteered, right? I would rather because that means that we're going to spend less money on this thing. This is money to do other things. Yeah. What if they what if like So then basically, let's say they have to pay for the materials and all that stuff, but then I guess they're just again, right, I will whatever it is you want to do, I will work with you. If you want to donate your time, right, so that we don't have to pay someone else to do the work, absolutely fine. If you want to pay for the mater I I I I don't believe that people should because they are giving to church, right, should get a raw deal, right? I don't think if somebody offers us a service, we should turn it down. Yeah. But I don't think if they ask us to pay, we should say, "No, we're not going to pay you simply because you attend our church." Why should I take the money and give it to an outside instead of give it to somebody on the inside? Inside. I would rather pay a church member to do work, right? If it is again value for money and pay an outsider to do the same work. Yeah. I I I that's that's stupidity to me. Why should I give the money to an outsider when I can give it to somebody who is a who is a member of my family? Absolutely not. That's good. By the way, you use that term family. Member of my family. Why would I take the money outside? We are. We are. And there are coconut heads in the family. Absolutely. But doesn't mean they're not members of the family. And like I always say, church is a hospital and we're all patients. So we have a family full of patients. I'm just, you know, I've been in the hospital a little longer than some people. I'm also a patient, right? So I don't think that you see the problem is this. People create this hypotheticals that are not actually possible. Why would I take the money from within and choose to give it outside to an outsider when there's somebody who will do the job as well or better right on the inside. I don't know any pastor who will do that unless that person and when they come and tell the story they don't tell you how they're unreliable. They're always late. They give you bad service. You get they just say my church people they would rather pay an outsider. But every time they have asked you to do the job, the food is bad. The food comes late. People have food poisoning. G. Oh my god. Food poisoning is crazy. We go out. I can tell I can tell you stories. I can tell you stories, right? But still what we try to do is still find someone else from within. Yeah. If we can't find somebody from within, then we look outside. Mhm. Right. And if that person wants to volunteer, absolutely. But nobody ever I've never in all my time with me somebody says PF this is the charge and then I'm going to twist their arm and say they have to do it for free. Never going to do that. If the Holy Spirit doesn't convict them that's not my it's not my job. Nice. I mean I I don't personally p you understand I feel like I'm still stuck on that whole not having anything in your investment a retirement account and you've done this for so long right? So that's my fault. Pray that like that's my fault. It's my I'm I'm responsible for that. I'm respons for it in the sense that I I I I did not insist on certain things at certain times, right? And then this church, for example, has actually tried, you know, New Covenant House has been um the the leadership team have actually made sure that um I'm well taken care of. So I can't complain. If you hear me any complaints is is from the past cuz they can hear me now. They like we didn't do this for you. But they've actually been quite quite decent to me. I still don't think I'm earning what I should be earning. But it's a lot more. It's a lot more than than Do you know what he's earning? I think P should be earning honestly in my opinion based on the quality of his sermons alone. I think he should be earning at least 500k a year. Thank you. Minimum. I hope they can hear it. I don't even can hear. But but but but see the thing is this right? So even though I'm being paid decently now I won't say I'm being paid excellently. I'm being paid decently. There's already a backlog for the many years when I was paid crap right? So it's as if you know and don't get me wrong I've not been the wisest or most prudent financial person you know. So when I talk about my retirement account I say that to clarify that it's not entirely the church's fault. Right. Um, but we're working on it. I'm working on it. And I'm not going to I'm not going to retire and be and be, you know, every day coming to church and be looking at people and say, "Hey, brother, today I haven't heard from me in a long time. Nah, man. N that's not my No, honestly, I think this is a great great segway for us to plug a couple of things. You're talking about finances, sponsorships, obviously." Yeah. Because we need PF to make 500K. So not not just for not just for but if you if you want to sponsor the show right if you want to sponsor PF unfiltered we're we're open to extremely open we're open to sponsors not because we want to buy private jets but because you know equipment costs a lot of money right um we'd like a a a more robust a better quality um product for you to to enjoy and be blessed from. So, absolutely. You know, we'd also like to create a platform for people to showcase what they do. So, um Esther starting her business. I'm sure she would love to sponsor. We're currently vetting cuz they're not just allowing anybody. Exactly. You know, we're getting we discount tears. Who's giving Who's giving discounts? We're not giving anybody a discount. Anyway, so that's funny. Shout out to Mama Mary seasoning. You are awesome. No, my mom my mom came in July and she said, "Where did you get this seasoning?" I said, "Oh, Mama Mary's Mama Mary seasoning." It's really good. So good. It's really good. They have the allpurpose seasoning and then they have the all person allpurpose seasoning with low sodium with Yeah. low sodium which is really good as well. So I think that's for me. Low sodium honestly like I can testify cuz I've had it on for really. I've had it on soup. Oh nice. Or I've even had it on this summer of eating for you. Right. Being on your cheeks a little on I've been on one food. Mhm. This that a nah stop my n don't miss out. Don't miss out. Don't miss out. On point. Always on point. Another way we can also boost our fanises right is increasing our subscribers. All right. 10 points. Guys, like, share, subscribe, right? Particularly the sharing. If you feel like this podcast has blessed you in any way, I want to encourage you, send it to somebody, right? Cuz every time I get feedback, and I get a lot of feedback from from folks, you know, a few silly people hiding behind their keyboard will write nonsense in in you know what's one thing they've said just one thing. No, I'm I'm not going to repeat lack of home training, spouting things like that. No, no, no, no. So, so some people, you know, the anonymity of of the anonymity of um of of the internet allows people to to be disagreeable. We can disagree without being disagreeable. We don't have to agree on everything, right? But we don't have to be so costic, nasty, and rude. We're Christians, right? We can express our disagreements. We can express our opinions without being without people wondering if we ever had any home training. You're going to go there. Yeah. By the way, we're going to do we're going to have a a an episode talking about that. How can you How do you disagree with people? How do you express your Yes. Express your opinions, strong opinions without being a jackass? Yeah. friends, spouses, parents without being without being a donkey that is used only for carrying mining shovels and things. Exactly. As very good comments. Um, we love when you guys comment cuz we will get right in the comments. We love when you comment in a civil fashion. If you get out of if you get out of character, we going to get out of No, I'm just lying. No, no, listen. If I going forward now, you know I speak pigeon English. So I will respond in pigeon English. If you if you leave any one of those anyone, even Peter, even Paul would have chastised you. He probably would have. Yeah, probably would have. Some of those on the on that disagreeing well actually um cuz you were talking earlier about how some people have the audacity, tarity, tarity, andility. You all see my girl. You want to see my girl? Anyway, so you have the audacity to marity. Uh concom um to um By the way, that's not a word. Oh, so you made that up. I believed you. Something from my childhood. Wow. Okay. Wow. That's the problem with ignorance, right? Somebody can somebody can tell you a lie. And and you know what happens a lot with scripture? We don't know the Bible. So somebody comes and spins like like like Esther not knowing that the Bible says you know um do not muzzle the ox. People were telling her that pastor shouldn't be paid. She came here with been a bit of a huff like PF. Why are they paying you? No wait. I'm actually for I'm pro pay the pastor. I'm just I'm just I'm just messing with you. No because that's how they get into the comments now and I'll be saying something else like which we which we appreciate. We appreciate the comments. We love the comments. Even the spicy comments. We love you. We love you. Get my blood going. Yeah. But you know the argument that essentially that they that they were using was you know you should not merchandise the faith. What does that mean? I had heard heard that before. What does that mean though? Again selling the gospel in a sense. Yeah. But you see this is the problem. The Bible says money answered all things, right? The gospel needs money in order when when when when when Paul right sent um his disciples to Jerusalem, he took a collection to go and help those people, right? All of those journeys up and down that he was taking, he had to pay for it. Now, he paid for it by making tents, but he wasn't running a church. Yeah. Right. He wasn't running this big organization that we expect to benefit from. junior church, the ushering department, uh the facilities, the uh uh uh um the choir, the the prayer ministry, administration, counseling, you know, it's there's a lot of stuff that Paul was not doing. So, he had the time, right, to do some things and make tense. Peter, on the other hand, was not as did not travel as much. So, he needed the local community to to help support him. Yeah. Again, we use terms out of context. Merchandising. What does that mean? Right. Are we I'm Don't worry. I'm still waiting for the scripture. No, no, no. I'm I'm just saying that when you when you hear that merchandising the gospel, of course, you're going to react in that's that's inappropriate. Mhm. Yeah. But, but that's not what is happening. What is happening that people are preaching the gospel and they're asking to be renumerated for their time, not from the world, but from the church. Yeah. I'm going out on our behalf and speaking to people. I'm going out on our behalf and creating this experience and what you want me to pray for manner from call out, right? Like when ministers are asking or requesting funds to help support their life, they're asking from the church and not from outsiders. No, that's such a good point. It's from the family. I'm doing this work on behalf of the family. It's like we we have, you know, a family of six siblings and we send one of the siblings to go, you know, do something in in outer Mongolia and we're like, "Yeah, we're not going to pay you." Yeah. I wonder if they're misunderstanding that time when Jesus came to like um I don't know with the people. He was like flipping tables and like getting mad that they were selling stuff in the church. They turned it wasn't that was the temple, right? And what they were doing was they weren't selling stuff. They were selling the things that pertain to worship and they were being exorbitant and they were being exploitative. Yeah. Right. And they turned the worship of God into a jamboree into a festival. Maybe that's what they're maybe referring to. That's not what is going on in the church. Yeah. No, I don't want to say that. I think they misunderstood that they're disagreeing. Well, I'm learning how you guys are talking about misunderstand. Honestly, I think people are disingenuous. M seriously I I think people have an axe to grind, right? Because let me give you a classic example. If somebody came now and said, "Esther, um um I need you to send your son to school XYZ." Esther is going to do the research. Mhm. She's going to do the research to make sure that it's a good school and that her child is safe. But someone else comes and says, "All pastors are thieves." Esther doesn't do any research. She just takes it and runs with it. It tells you that Esther wants to believe that you and and and that frustrates me, right? It's like during the last election, people said they were voting for one party because that party was going to help them economically. That party was the party of jobs. Meanwhile, statistics history shows that the economy tanks under that party. They weren't voting for economic reasons. They should stop talking that nonsense. That's rubbish. That's rubbish. The people who voted for party red did not vote for economic reasons. If they voted for economic reasons, right, then they are the most they are liars. I'm telling you because the facts are there. The truth is there. Maybe we are saying this. So just come out and say what you're voting for and and let's be let's be or or like in my case it could just be lack of it could be ignorance. There's no ignorance. like some listen listen if somebody as aspouses something you claim you have a problem with Mhm. but they're good at something else. The fact that you have a problem with them in this area will make you research are they really good in the area that they claim to be good. I think you're giving people a lot of credit. Let me explain what I'm saying. Let me break it down. You might do that but let me not research. Yeah. They don't I know a few people that just react. doesn't listen to one person. That's the point. Yeah. Let's use racists for example, right? A black man comes and offers to do your um repair your television. Mhm. And you don't like black people, right? You're going to make sure the guy can really fix your television before you let him in your house. Mhm. Because you don't like black people. Yeah. I think that's that's logical. I don't think most I say that if you unless unless you really if you let him into your house without checking if he's good at what he says he's good at then really it is not about black people right that's my point right I'm saying that if the reason for voting a particular way is economic reasons then you want to make sure right because the impression well I'm holding my nose I'm voting for them for economic reasons but then the facts show that that's not true Yeah. Yeah. They're crap on the economy. They tank the economy all the time. Unemployment always goes up. Deficit always goes up. Inflation always goes up all the time. It's not even far. Yeah. And the Democrats come and clean it up after. I'm not saying your vote was wrong. I'm saying be honest as to why you voted. Yeah. Don't use the economy as a shield because it makes you look like you're being dupliciti. Yeah. I don't think honesty is our initial go to cuz that will make the person have to be like to say the real reason as to why they didn't want but that's not comfortable for them saying so I'm saying it's being duplic I know that if you had voting economy right you would not vote like that so come out and say that I voted because I don't like Yeah but if they say that they'll get so that's being duplicitous which is what it is yeah that's what I said yeah you're right you're right you're right well this season is going to be very interesting Clearly. Yeah, clearly. Yeah. I mean, but yeah, I keep it's it's I'm not trying to be funny like how to disagree. I learned a couple of things about not disagreeing. Well, because you brought that up. Essa wasn't triggered. Glad be triggered. Kilo come cuz normally you are feisty. Oh, please. No. Real life though. Then you you asked for context and then you guys went back and forth and baby chimed in and I'm like, "Ah, bet. This is cordial." Yeah. Yeah. It always is kind of cordial. It's not always cordial. I'm a cordial. Comments. Comments. If you believe that the PSA moment right now, right now, right now, choosing violence, you're you're bringing you're bringing that energy. We don't want that energy. Who wants to choose violence? We don't want that violent energy. I'm a celebrity now. Comment section. I'm a celebrity. Anyway, put in the comments below and let us know if we're we're occasionally called you, always called you, or never called you. All right. No. Yeah. I love it. I'm probably going to get a lot of things. Probably before we wrap up, I know this was not in the script. Apologize production, but can we do a segment called spiritual red flag? What does that mean? Yeah. Thank you, pastor. You know how like you're dating someone and they ask you, "Okay, what are the red flags?" You know, and you're like, "Oh, I don't like you the way he or she." Right. So, again, we might judge, but we don't condemn. Let me let me let me give you two red flags. No, I'm Oh, if you if you're dating a guy and he calls women females, that's a red flag. That's a red flag. If you're dating a guy, I'm sorry. Yes. Thank you. If if you meet a guy and he calls women females, red flag. If you meet a guy and he calls and he says, "Oh, my job is to is to protect and provide." Red flag. I get thank we'll explain at the next when we deal with it if protect and provide red flag females red flag pause please why the female why that's a red flag Sunday are you don't say do you say females on another episode we'll be back with this if you are a man and you're going now calling women females you are a red a walking red flag and If you talk about how my role as a man is to provide and protect, baby, you have context. No, never. Never. Okay. So, wait, pause. No, no, no, no. Next episode. We got to go. We got to close. We got to close. No, I was just saying cuz I was thinking about like cuz we're talking about, you know, certain irks that PF had with whether it's congressional members or church people. Yes. Right. Or those are. So I was thinking like what are the spiritual or Christian red flags that whether you see you see in others or you want to like you know you don't like or whatever right next we'll talk about next okay now fair I was just curious shout out we'll see you guys next time. Thank you to our sponsors. Like we said earlier, like, comment, subscribe, smash that notific. We are so excited to be back. Yeah. Um, also PF your Instagram. Yes. If you're not following me on Instagram, what are you doing? Oh, come on. Follow me on Instagram. There's, you know, it's it's getting my Instagram is getting better better and better and better. No, no, that that's my Instagram. They're not following your IG. Who are you following? Why are you following? I don't understand. What are you doing with your life? Follow me. It's boring. It's just boring. Weird. Like, I don't understand. All right, guys. We'll see you guys later. All right. Shout out y'all. Peace. Unfiltered. [Music]
